We recommend for out-of-town guests to stay in Santa Monica, which is a 45 minute drive from the wedding venue in Malibu. There is plenty to see and do in Santa Monica proper (the beach, the pier, the promenade, shopping, spas, restaurants, etc.) and the Malibu Getty Center Art Museum is just a short drive away. The weather is usually hot in October in LA..with 80-degree days and cooler evenings in the upper 60s and low 70s.
The following are the hotels that we suggest along with the wedding blocks we have secured:
The Sheraton Delfina - This property offers the best rates at $219/night (and if you call to book a room just ask for the "social rate"). Please note this property is not beachside, although they do have a pool. The Sheraton is a 20-minute walk to the Third Street Promenade. The website is http://www.sheratonsantamonica.com/
The Georgian - This is an art deco property and the best option for couples interested in sharing a suite with two rooms separated by French doors at $290/night. Their best regular room rate is $230/night. The property is beachside and is just a 5-minute walk to the Santa Monica Pier and the Third Street Promenade. Please note, they do not have a pool. Loews Santa Monica Beach Hotel - Their best rate is $269 for a non-ocean view room. This is an upscale/high end property. It's on the beach, has a pool, and it's walking distance to Third Street Promenade and the Santa Monica Pier. (We have a block of rooms under Richards/Leiken). **We will be offering a shuttle service (from the Loews Santa Monica Beach Hotel) to and from the wedding site for out-of-town guests.
